Eleanor Adeney, London-based violinist and vocalist, grew up in a large family of musicians and began learning piano and violin at the age of 5 with her father, Warwick Adeney, the concertmaster of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
She completed her Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Classical Violin at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) in 2017; she was placed in the advanced performance stream for violin, and received the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence (top 5%). Whilst studying violin, she took private singing lessons with Dr Margaret Schindler. At the end of 2019, Eleanor moved to London to develop her voice with Veronica Vesey- Campbell
In 2018, Eleanor appeared as alto soloist with the choir and orchestra of Artes Christi in NSW on several occasions. Repertoire highlights include Charpentier’s Te Deum, Haydn’s Sancti Nicolai, and Handel’s Messiah. Eleanor has also received a number of soloist opportunities at the Brisbane Oratory in their Oratorio concert series which feature Bach’s cantatas and the solo female voice works of St. Hildegard von Bingen. She was also a founding member of the professional vocal quartet Quattuor Lucis and Domus Dei Duo (violin/voice and organ) with whom she has successfully performed a number of concerts.
Eleanor led the string quartet for the choir of Artes Christi on their international Europe tour in 2015, and afterwards, continued touring as the lead mezzo-soprano for the choral group, Prima Luce, with whom she recently released a CD. Through her vast choral and orchestral experience, Eleanor has worked with many internationally renowned conductors and ensembles such as Sir Mark Elder CH CBE, Johannes Frizsch, Simone Young, Alondra de la Parra, Sir Mark Wigglesworth, Nicholas Cleobury and recently sang for a masterclass with the Kings Singers. Showing her versatility as a performer, Eleanor has also performed with Delta Goodrem for the 2019 Logies and played for the Ministry of Sound Orchestrated tour in Australia and has been part of an Andrews Sisters tribute band for the last 5 years.
