My heroine Audrey Hepburn once said the word Impossible contains I’m possible.
My life so far is such a testament to that.
My back story may seem sad at first glance but we all get life cards; it’s what we do with them that counts. That’s what shapes us.
I married at 22 and for the next 20 years was gradually shut down from the world, silenced and buried. There were some horrific , frightening times but thanks to my four children we had SUCH magic, such mischief & fun during his long absences. Some of it outrageously funny !
My children, now grown up, are all neurodiverse & through my journey with my autistic son in particular, a whole new world opened. What became a battle for my son became a battle for thousands of children like him … & eventually led to me inventing my own job in schools working with the neurodiverse and being able to escape my marriage.
This work has seen me become an author, an award winning therapist, teacher, trainer, motivational speaker, passionate advocate, educator & charity ambassador for an international autism charity. It also led to me winning community awards, an autism hero award last year as well as being awarded a certificate at the 2021 National Diversity Awards. My work & message have been featured multiple times on BBC Radio, the national press, national magazines as well as regional & local. I never stop fighting for the children I so believe in.
I’ve also done lots of work for domestic abuse & raising awareness.
You see, my 22 year old self was never stopped. She was only paused . Luckily I have a strong spirit of hope & a very wicked sense of humour ! It got me through. That 22 year old never dimmed that light of the modelling path I was once on . This is time for a new chapter. A chapter for me without sounding selfish. I’ve loved helping others find their songs, their gifts, their dreams & I’ll never stop doing that. But maybe it’s time for me to one step out from behind everyone else to be alongside them singing my song too.
When I get time for hobbies I love writing & song writing, both of which I do voraciously !! Cooking is an enormous passion ( my own therapy !) which I’ve inherited from my Italian Nonna. Music , dancing , learning the guitar , wild swimming & walking for miles & miles on Exmoor are huge passions too. I’ve also had my nose stuck in a book at every opportunity from a very young age !
